Healthier-For-You Multipurpose Cleaning Spray

Healthier-For-You Multipurpose Cleaning Spray

We can easily be exposed to endocrine disruptors from all areas of our lives – make-up, hair and body products, stressful lifestyles, food, and home cleaning products. Home cleaning products are one of the sneaky products in our homes that can cause us so much hormonal imbalance without us thinking twice that it can be the main culprit. Endocrine disruptors can negatively impact our periods, fertility, moods, and trigger an array of hormonal imbalances.

Many of the chemicals found in everyday house-cleaning products are bio-accumulative and toxic. Once they are in your system, they stay there and increase the free radical damage in your body. This causes you to be more vulnerable to autoimmune diseases and cancers. All because you want to clean some dirt off the floor!

You may think you are better off spending more and purchasing the “natural green” cleaning products. Unfortunately, there are no laws in place that regulate these companies and ensure their ingredients are in fact “green”. These companies can make false claims about how environmentally and health-friendly their products are, without being responsible for the damage they may cause you. It is really difficult to find companies you trust and can also afford.

This is why I think it is so important for us, the conscious people, to use our own two hands and create the products that we expose ourselves and our families to on a daily basis. Our ancestors did this. So can we.

Exhibit A: Multipurpose cleaning spray.

What you need:

  • Trigger spray bottle
  • 1 cup of vinegar
  • 20 drops lemon essential oil
  • 10-15 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 cup of water

Add the vinegar and the essential oils to the bottle and shake. Add the water. Shake before each use. Use this to clean counter tops, grease, table tops, and bathrooms.

Have fun with this one, too. If you prefer citrus scents for cleaning, replace lavender for wild orange or grapefruit.

Important note when you DIY: Make sure you are using ingredients that are organic, natural, and pure. If you are going to buy cheap essential oils, then you might as well save yourself the time and buy the cheap cleaning products. There are no regulations on companies producing essential oils, so it is difficult to tell if you are purchasing harmful chemicals or the pure essential oil. I trust DoTerra’s products with all of my family’s needs. Get your hands on some quality essential oils here!
